I am Kaustav Majumdar, a contemporary painter based in Freiburg, Germany, working internationally.
My paintings explore the relationship between perception, memory, light and emotion. I begin with fragments of the world around me—urban spaces, landscapes, nature, fleeting encounters—and transform them into vivid, atmospheric compositions where reality gradually gives way to sensation.
At the centre of my practice is Neo Vividism, a visual language I have developed since 2022. Through colour, light and layered acrylic painting, I explore how a moment is remembered rather than simply seen—how its atmosphere, emotion and intensity can remain long after the moment itself has disappeared.
My work has been exhibited across Germany, the Netherlands, Switzerland and the UK, including presentations in Berlin, Amsterdam, Venice and London.
For me, painting is a way of holding on to what cannot be held: a moment, a feeling, a particular light.
